About the Role

Merantix Capital is seeking an intern for a six-month period to support its investment activities. The role involves analyzing markets, supporting due diligence, preparing financial models and investment memos, and assessing AI value-creation opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze markets, industries, business models, and companies for deal sourcing and investment theses development.
  • Support commercial and financial due diligence, including market analyses, competitive research, company valuations, and customer calls.
  • Assist in preparing and refining financial models, company valuations, sensitivity analyses, and investment cases.
  • Prepare investment memos, decision materials, and presentations for internal discussions and Investment Committee.
  • Provide operational support in structuring, preparing, and executing M&A and private equity transactions.
  • Assess AI value-creation opportunities and technology-related disruption risks at target companies.
  • Contribute to building and refining internal processes, frameworks, and tools across the investment lifecycle.
  • Support the development of new investment theses.
  • Support the preparation and further development of financial models.
  • Support the preparation and further development of company valuations.
  • Support the preparation and further development of sensitivity analyses.
  • Support the preparation and further development of investment cases.
  • Support the structuring of M&A and private equity transactions.

Requirements

  • Excellent academic performance in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or a comparable field from a top university.
  • Relevant prior internship experience in at least one of the following areas: M&A, investment banking, private equity, transaction services, or strategy consulting.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a strong understanding of markets, business models, and economic relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Initial experience in financial modelling and company valuation is ideal.
  • AI-native working style, including hands-on experience with modern AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar) to research, analyse and automate knowledge work.
  • Strong interest in AI and in understanding how technology can transform established companies and industries.
  • Structured, diligent, and independent working style, combined with a high standard of quality.
  • High degree of initiative, ownership, willingness to learn, and entrepreneurial drive.
  • Full professional proficiency in German (C2) and fluent English.
