About the Role
SOCAN is seeking a Data Analyst to join our Analytics department. In this role, you’ll be accountable for turning raw data into actionable business insights through various reports and dashboards, driving improvement in our key organizational initiatives. You must be comfortable working closely with data engineers, BI analysts, and business leaders. The ideal candidate has a solid grasp of data fundamentals and is eager, curious, and possesses a drive for continuous learning and self-improvement, especially with modern cloud data stacks.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with data engineers, BI analysts, other data analysts, and business leaders to document reporting requirements and understand business processes and how they affect data.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to clean, transform, and analyze large datasets within Databricks to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities to improve our data.
- Support data quality assurance by creating data quality tests and plans for various reporting and Lakehouse projects that can assist in troubleshooting data discrepancies and pipeline issues.
- Work with each department leader to define and document KPIs.
- Perform root-cause analysis on KPI fluctuations to provide actionable insights to department leaders.
- Collaborate on the continuous development of interactive Databricks AI/BI dashboards and reports, designing and maintaining clear dashboards to communicate findings to various stakeholders.
- Curate and document semantic layers to power natural language querying (Genie) for business users.
- Participate in, and contribute towards daily standup meetings, project planning sessions, and retrospectives.
- Manage, prioritize, and respond to ad hoc requests for data analysis.
Requirements
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to work on large data sets, while keeping the big picture in mind.
- Strong SQL skills and intermediate Python.
- An understanding of Spark and distributed compute environments.
- Experience and proficiency performing data analysis using Databricks or similar technologies (2+ years).
- Strong communicator, with the ability to tackle loosely defined problems with a solution oriented mindset.
- Business writing skills as well as the ability to create technical documentation, communicating clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Stats, Economics, Business Analytics) or equivalent experience.
- Passion & love for music.

- $71,920 to $89,900
