About the Role

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive of TASB, partnering with a 42-member Board of Directors to advance the organization’s mission, strategic priorities, and long-term vision. This leader oversees a complex enterprise with multiple business lines and affiliated entities, ensuring TASB remains a trusted, influential, and non-partisan voice for Texas public education while balancing mission-driven leadership with operational rigor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the strategic plan across diverse business units and affiliated entities.
  • Guide the implementation of enterprise-wide initiatives to strengthen member value and long-term sustainability.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for advocacy, governance services, risk management, purchasing cooperatives, and financial/legal services.
  • Anticipate and respond to emerging trends, legislative developments, and market dynamics.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture that attracts and retains exceptional talent.
  • Provide executive oversight of diverse operating entities and revenue-generating business lines.
  • Ensure sound financial stewardship, operational excellence, and effective risk management.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to enhance member value and drive sustainable growth.
  • Lead enterprise-wide planning and succession efforts.
  • Partner with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance and organizational accountability.
  • Serve as the chief external representative, engaging members, policymakers, and education leaders.
  • Strengthen TASB's reputation as a trusted, nonpartisan voice for public education.
  • Cultivate relationships with legislators, regulatory agencies, and school districts.
  • Lead the organization through complex political and legislative landscapes.
