About the Role

Assign accurate and timely clinical codes to patient episodes of care using ICD10AM and Australian Coding Standards. The role involves ongoing training, education, and participation in audits.

Responsibilities

  • Assigning accurate and timely clinical codes to patient episodes of care
  • Analysis of patient record documentation
  • Using the appropriate version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Australian Modification (ICD10AM)
  • Applying Australian Coding Standards and relevant State Coding authority advice
  • Involvement with ongoing training and education sessions
  • Participate in ongoing audits

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent, or Clinical Coding qualifications from HIMAA or equivalent
  • Provide accurate and timely coding of patient records using ICD 10 AM
  • At least two years clinical coding experience
  • Previous experience with 3M Codefinder software
  • Experience in clinical coding across a range of DRGs with demonstrated high quality coding skills
  • Up to date knowledge of Clinical Coding guidelines and Australian Coding Standards
  • Prepared to participate in performance and quality improvement activities
  • Successful completion of all pre-employment checks
  • Evidence of immunity may be required for proof of immunity against vaccine preventable diseases (VPD)
