About the Role
coni + partner is seeking a Tax Advisor for Investment Funds / International Transactions (EU/US) to join an asset management team at an international Swiss bank in Zurich. This role involves managing product projects from legal, regulatory, operational, and project management perspectives, advising on tax efficiency in financial transactions, and analyzing tax implications for investments.
Responsibilities
- Manage product projects from a legal, regulatory, operational, and project management perspective.
- Advise specialists and managers on tax issues related to product development.
- Provide advice on tax efficiency in financial transactions and investments.
- Manage client investment needs, negotiate terms with law firms, draft side letters, and write memorandums.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of financial transaction tax for existing investments.
- Launch transaction tax initiatives and monitor the tax structuring of financial transactions.
- Work on documentation for various fund structures and compliance for investment onboarding.
- Coordinate tax projects, processes, and procedures with tax firms and authorities worldwide.
- Develop a service catalog and define interfaces with operational teams.
- Investigate legal and regulatory considerations for specific clients, products, and jurisdictions.
- Conduct training on tax issues and best practices for transaction-based tax.
- Commission and manage external legal advisors and other service providers.
- Handle ad hoc situational projects.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Tax or Law.
- Professional experience as a tax expert or tax lawyer at a Big Four firm, international top law firm, or asset manager with fund investments.
- Knowledge of investment funds and transaction regulation (e.g., UCITS, UCITSD, AIFMD, MiFID).
- Knowledge of EU and US Tax regulations.
- Knowledge of private equity, private real estate, private debt, and private infrastructure funds and tax structuring.
- Knowledge of global fund jurisdictions, including Luxembourg, Delaware, and Cayman Islands.
- Interest in different fund structures.
- Ability to successfully manage tax issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to consider varying tax considerations.
- Ability to work with product development teams on new fund strategies.
- Ability to manage external stakeholders and meet ambitious timelines.
- Analytical and detail-oriented with skillful communication.
- Team player.
- Proficient in MS Office.
