About the Role

As a Peer Support Specialist on the Mobile Team, you will assist clinicians on mobile visits, provide support and advocacy to individuals in crisis, and serve as a resource to clinicians and case managers by sharing knowledge of common challenges faced by individuals with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) and community resources. You will be an adult with lived experience with mental illness and report to the Executive Program Director.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with service providers involved with individuals with SPMI.
Provide information and peer-to-peer support to individuals served by the program.
Educate and empower clients and their supports regarding their roles in developing crisis plans and in crisis prevention.
Educate service providers regarding an individual's role in developing a crisis plan for themselves and in crisis prevention.
Ensure that the individual is an integral part of the crisis planning process.
Inform service providers (including Mobile Crisis and PCFC providers) regarding person-centered and strength-based practices.
Maintain and model a focus on strengths.
Advise Clinical Supervisor.
Ensure that clients are satisfied with the services they are receiving and help them advocate for their needs.
Educate individuals and primary caretakers on how to advocate if services are not meeting their needs.
Act as a liaison to other local supports in the community.
Link individuals to Peer Support Services activities such as support groups, social events, and newsletters.

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
