About the Role
The Digital Strategy and Products department is seeking an experienced Release Manager to support growing teams. This role is responsible for release planning, scheduling, and execution of software deployments for both app and mobile platforms, leading engineering practices, processes, and technology solutions in release management. The mission is to guide teams to successful deployments and promote best practices for continuous improvement. This position is ideal for someone passionate about driving successful software releases in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with product teams, product managers, product owners, and Agile team leads through clear communication to ensure all teams contributing to a release have clarity on content and schedule.
- Schedule, control, and execute the delivery process for the release management lifecycle across multiple platforms (web and mobile apps) and mission teams/value streams.
- Design and implement monitoring processes by collaborating with product teams and quality engineers.
- Manage risks and issues arising from releases.
- Continuously improve the release process by identifying and resolving gaps in automation.
- Conduct release readiness reviews and design/execute methods to measure release success.
- Collaborate with technical leaders for technical advice.
- Work with quality engineers, DevOps, and infrastructure architects to integrate their products into release management.
- Operate within a complex environment with dependencies between code bases, libraries, and products.
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience in release management.
- Developed career from a software development background.
- Demonstrated experience in both hands-on and management aspects of designing and implementing release management processes, with a focus on automation and continuous improvement.
- Experience in complex application releases and orchestrating integrated deployments.
- Knowledgeable in automation, scripting, and controlling the release process.
- Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, balancing firmness for schedule adherence with flexibility for exceptions.
- A problem solver and excellent communicator who takes ownership, views problems as opportunities, and shares new ideas.
- A dynamic individual who loves to learn and connect with others.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills, with tact and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of infrastructure, development, and development-related concepts.
- Familiarity with at least one deployment platform for containerized applications (e.g., OpenShift, EKS).
- Familiarity with at least one repository, build, and deployment platform (e.g., Bamboo, GitHub).
- Possess a degree in engineering (applied science), computer science, science, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
- Candidates who advance will be asked to complete a background check, including a mandatory Criminal record check.
