About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Enforce the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Wellstar Health System.
  • Provide assistance to employees, patients and visitors.
  • Assist with traffic and parking control.
  • Document observations, hazards, and incidents for follow up corrective action.
  • Take immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions which may cause injury or damage.
  • Report any unsafe conditions and actions taken to supervisor.
  • Assist with emergency response as directed by supervisor.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Escort persons and assist facility personnel.
  • Be vigilant and alert for activities, which could result in injury to a person or damage to or loss of property.
  • Assist with fire drills and disaster/emergency exercises as required.
  • Provide a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with facility staff members.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of a facility and where applicable of multiple facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse people including clients or their representatives, client employees, visitors, or client vendors.
  • Write accurate, clear, and legible reports.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service classes related to the Security Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid State Driver's License or Georgia Driver's License.
  • Must successfully complete standard security training programs including IAHSS, AVADE de-escalation, defensive tactics, and Taser.
  • Must be able to pass a psychological evaluation.

Skills

  • Ability to speak, read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Possess writing skills necessary to complete incident, accident, and investigative reports.
  • Public relations skills necessary to communicate effectively with the public in a courteous, professional, and tactful manner.
  • Ability to accept responsibility, manage authority and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to function independent of constant supervision and exercise physical and emotional restraint under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to observe, listen attentively and use problem-solving skills.

Experience Level

  • Minimum 1 year private safety/security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or GED.
