Responsibilities
- Enforce the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Wellstar Health System.
- Provide assistance to employees, patients and visitors.
- Assist with traffic and parking control.
- Document observations, hazards, and incidents for follow up corrective action.
- Take immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions which may cause injury or damage.
- Report any unsafe conditions and actions taken to supervisor.
- Assist with emergency response as directed by supervisor.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Escort persons and assist facility personnel.
- Be vigilant and alert for activities, which could result in injury to a person or damage to or loss of property.
- Assist with fire drills and disaster/emergency exercises as required.
- Provide a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with facility staff members.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of a facility and where applicable of multiple facilities.
- Communicate effectively with diverse people including clients or their representatives, client employees, visitors, or client vendors.
- Write accurate, clear, and legible reports.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service classes related to the Security Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid State Driver's License or Georgia Driver's License.
- Must successfully complete standard security training programs including IAHSS, AVADE de-escalation, defensive tactics, and Taser.
- Must be able to pass a psychological evaluation.
Skills
- Ability to speak, read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
- Possess writing skills necessary to complete incident, accident, and investigative reports.
- Public relations skills necessary to communicate effectively with the public in a courteous, professional, and tactful manner.
- Ability to accept responsibility, manage authority and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to function independent of constant supervision and exercise physical and emotional restraint under stressful conditions.
- Ability to observe, listen attentively and use problem-solving skills.
Experience Level
- Minimum 1 year private safety/security, military, or law enforcement experience.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED.
