About the Role
To service new and existing Commercial Lines accounts, achieve sales goals and service standards, and secure account retention through marketing responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop a full working knowledge of Commercial Lines procedures.
- Handle client requests for information, endorsements, forms, and rates.
- Review and analyze policies, endorsements, forms, and rates for accuracy.
- Oversee requests for endorsements, and control and preparation of binders, certificates, invoices, and automobile identification cards.
- Review suspense on a regularly scheduled basis, re-suspending or handling items as appropriate.
- Maintain account files, ensuring documents are placed in appropriate sections of the automated database.
- Order cancellations where requested or required.
- Assist in clearing unbilled items, account differences, and commission differences.
- Coordinate premium financing needs with the Accounting Department.
- Keep producers informed of real or potential problems.
- Correspond with markets and clients, accompanying producers on visits as requested.
- Market assigned accounts, obtaining and evaluating quotations, and determining and recommending markets.
- Maintain knowledge of carrier underwriting criteria, deviations, plans, and marketing policy.
- Maintain knowledge of approved rates by respective carriers and explain policy rating.
- Negotiate with company underwriters.
- Prepare complete and accurate submissions.
- Prepare and/or modify quotations when required.
- Maintain a suspense file for proper follow-up of outstanding quotation requests.
- Prepare policy orders to the successful carrier, binding and invoicing as appropriate.
- Check carrier issued policies for accuracy.
- Inform carrier and client of forthcoming corrections.
- Utilize agency automation with a high level of knowledge and proficiency.
- Follow procedures as established in the Commercial Lines Procedure Manual.
- Pursue a program of personal and professional development.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.
- Ability to create, edit, and merge letters, spreadsheets, and labels.
- Valid Insurance Producer license in good standing or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Manual dexterity, arm and upper body range of motion sufficient for keyboard and mouse use 7-8 hours per day.
- Vision sufficient for constant computer use.
- Ability to sit at a desk 7-8 hours per day.
- Hearing sufficient for in-person and telephone communication daily.

Experience Level
- 1-2+ years of insurance experience, or a related field (preferred)
Education Level
- High School degree or equivalent
- College Degree in a business-related field (preferred)
- CPCU and/or CIC designation preferred
Salary/Compensations
- 38.00 - 39.00 Hourly
