About the Role

This half-time AmeriCorps position places trained members with the Community Mediation Center at Child + Family Services in Buffalo, NY to support conflict resolution, outreach, and community engagement. The role involves providing mediation training, assisting with virtual and small claims mediation sessions, and offering technical support. The service member will co-facilitate sessions, draft agreements, and complete documentation, ensuring a professional environment for clients while gaining valuable experience.

Responsibilities

Provide basic mediation training to candidates.
Assist with hosting and co-mediating virtual and small claims mediation sessions.
Provide technical and procedural support on Zoom.
Co-facilitate sessions.
Draft agreements.
Complete session documentation.
Maintain a smooth, secure, and professional environment for clients.
Participate in professional development and service initiatives.

Requirements

Must be able to serve for at least two full days per week.
Must be able to appear in-person at offices and within city courts.
Requires a short application and background check process through AmeriCorps and Child + Family Services.
