About the Role
The Area Director, Venues is responsible for the overall management of operations within assigned venues in a region, ensuring world-class service delivery to venue partners, customers, and vendors. This includes managing daily operational and sales activities of the primary venue, financial, operational, and sales performance for additional locations, and supervising venue leaders to support company initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships and provide outstanding customer service.
- Identify key issues and decision-makers influencing contract renewals and leverage internal resources.
- Create and participate in business review presentations.
- Service high profile/visibility events and act as a point of escalation.
- Partner with Venue Regional Sales Management Leadership on sales strategies.
- Collaborate with venue partners to find new revenue stream opportunities and select services.
- Ensure assigned locations operate efficiently and profitably, focusing on revenue maximization and cost control.
- Drive revenue growth, cost management, and financial performance through operational planning, forecasting, and cost control.
- Achieve financial goals by managing labor, equipment sub-rentals, and other costs.
- Train and direct operations and sales teams to complete standard and ad hoc reports.
- Complete and analyze reports and budgets for effective business management.
- Manage the company billing system, coordinate invoicing, and ensure client approval of billing.
- Confirm timely payment processing by venue partners.
- Review primary venue and other venues' P&L statements and develop action plans for improvement or growth.
- Conduct periodic financial reviews at assigned locations focusing on cost and revenue opportunity management.
- Collaborate with regional labor and equipment leaders to maximize utilization.
- Direct venue leaders and collaborate with Regional Director, Venues and/or RVP to develop and deliver business reviews.
- Ensure reviewed forecasts are completed accurately and timely, partnering with accounts receivable for timely collection.
- Oversee venues in an assigned region to ensure daily operations meet brand and safety standards.
- Confirm operations teams use inventory control procedures for proper inventory levels, safety, security, and quality assurance.
- Analyze schedules and available labor/equipment resources, recommending sharing within local markets.
- Ensure Encore management presence at all venue meetings.
- Meet with Venue Leadership to review upcoming events, problem-solve, assess operational feasibility, and discuss budgets.
- Enforce the security of stored gear, transportation, and maintenance of equipment.
- Provide analysis of equipment needs and partner to establish proper CAPEX submission.
- Ensure management effectively utilizes all Company computer systems and software programs.
- Develop programs to improve efficiencies through shared labor, equipment, and industry knowledge.
- Assist RVP, Venues & Regional Director, Venues with implementing and maintaining initiatives.
- Utilize company systems for site visit reviews to ensure adherence to SOPs and business practices.
- Hold assigned locations accountable for maintaining a healthy pipeline to achieve revenue targets.
- Ensure accurate sales forecasting and timely report submission.
- Create and present business performance, pipeline, and forecasting reports to senior management.
- Provide sales support and leadership to assigned locations, connecting with appropriate sales resources.
- Maintain knowledge of new product/service offerings and emerging technology.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with customers, venue personnel, and supporting functions.
- Lead assigned venues to exceed internal and external customer expectations.
- Enforce guidelines for a polished and professional team image.

- Identify and recommend development opportunities and develop succession plans.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels to address performance management concerns.
- Ensure all safety practices are followed.
- Partner with leadership to analyze team member engagement data and develop action plans.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 12+ years of audio visual experience.
- 10+ years of sales/customer service experience.
- 8+ years of operations supervisory/management experience in audio visual.
- Effective relationship management skills and experience.
- Strong financial acumen, sales planning, forecasting, and CRM skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to support growth initiatives.
- Proficiency with computer hardware.
- Proficiency with computer software and programs, including the Internet and Microsoft Office.
- Effective leadership abilities and customer satisfaction and people development focus.
- This position may require up to 20% travel.

About the Company
- Work is performed in a venue/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust.
- The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes.
- Team member will use high-end audio visual equipment and electrical components, and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders.
- Team members may be asked to work in multiple venue locations.
- Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Team member will visit other work locations for meetings or for other business related reasons.
- Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area.
