About the Role

The Utility Engineer is responsible for maintaining the property in the best possible condition with minimal inconvenience to guests and employees. This is an 89-day project focused on guest bathroom caulking and grouting, with potential for preventive maintenance in guest rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform guest bathroom caulking and grouting.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance in guest rooms as directed.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal codes.
  • Work Monday-Friday under the supervision of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees and guests.
  • Listen to, understand, and clarify concerns.
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to scheduling.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
  • Maximize productivity and assist in problem-solving.
  • Handle problems effectively, including anticipating and preventing them.
  • Understand and apply complex information from various sources.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Show initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or one year of experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • At least one year of experience in a hotel, building, hospital or dormitory setting.
  • Must have caulking and grouting experience in a professional setting.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
