About the Role
The Utility Engineer is responsible for maintaining the property in the best possible condition with minimal inconvenience to guests and employees. This is an 89-day project focused on guest bathroom caulking and grouting, with potential for preventive maintenance in guest rooms.
Responsibilities
- Perform guest bathroom caulking and grouting.
- Conduct preventive maintenance in guest rooms as directed.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal codes.
- Work Monday-Friday under the supervision of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees and guests.
- Listen to, understand, and clarify concerns.
- Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance and adhere to scheduling.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
- Maximize productivity and assist in problem-solving.
- Handle problems effectively, including anticipating and preventing them.
- Understand and apply complex information from various sources.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Show initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or one year of experience in a hotel or related field required.
- At least one year of experience in a hotel, building, hospital or dormitory setting.
- Must have caulking and grouting experience in a professional setting.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
