About the Role

As the Human Resources Manager, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to hospital leadership and employees across three locations. You'll balance strategic partnership with hands-on HR support, helping leaders navigate employee relations, develop high-performing teams, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster an engaging workplace culture. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving complex people challenges, coaching leaders, and creating environments where veterinary professionals can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, and leadership best practices.
  • Support talent planning, succession planning, and workforce development.
  • Help leaders build engaged, accountable, high-performing teams.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative workplace culture.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.
  • Support onboarding and orientation to ensure new team members feel welcomed and connected.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, employment practices, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manage employee relations matters with professionalism, consistency, and empathy.
  • Support leave administration, ADA accommodations, I-9 compliance, and other employment requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders to deliver learning and development opportunities.
  • Support leadership development initiatives.
  • Use workforce metrics to help identify opportunities for organizational growth and employee retention.
  • Coordinate onboarding, transitions, and offboarding.
  • Partner with hospital leadership and the People Team to ensure consistent HR practices across all three hospitals.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Strong employee relations experience
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • Experience developing HR programs and training initiatives
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to support a 24/7 healthcare operation when needed
  • Ability to travel regularly to our Vermont and New Hampshire hospitals
  • Healthcare experience preferred; veterinary experience is a plus
