About the Role
Join a top-performing Canadian asset manager within the Institutional Portfolio Operations team. This role is critical to the investment success of diverse institutional clients, offering exposure to the asset management industry and opportunities for professional growth within Connor, Clark & Lunn.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile cash, transactions, holdings, futures, derivatives, dividends, soft dollars, units, and alternative investments.
- Investigate reconciliation breaks related to shareholder activities, income, corporate actions, failed trades, or derivatives.
- Research using platforms such as Bloomberg or Reuters.
- Navigate custodian websites to extract cash and holdings reports.
- Communicate with custodians, prime brokers, and portfolio managers to resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with custodians and prime brokers to set up daily external file delivery.
- Manage the flow of critical portfolio information for CC&L affiliates.
- Assist auditors by providing accurate and timely data for institutional client account audits.
- Participate in business process improvement with a focus on automation, efficiency, and scalability.
- Test and implement new projects, products, services, and processes.
- Perform month-end reconciliation to ensure timely resolution of account imbalances.
- Analyze issues, determine next steps, and escalate as required.
- Complete complex tasks within established rules and limits.
- Perform ad-hoc projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in investment operations within an institutional investment firm, bank, or trust company.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to problem-solve effectively in situations with incomplete information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
