About the Role
The Marketing Development Representative (MDR) Manager will lead a team of MDRs responsible for qualifying and converting marketing-generated leads into sales-ready meetings. This player-coach role requires prior quota-carrying experience and a passion for developing talent.
Responsibilities
- Hire, onboard, mentor, and lead a team of Marketing Development Representatives to hit daily, monthly, and quarterly targets
- Build the sales acumen, product knowledge, and physical-security industry expertise of every rep through hands-on coaching, live call feedback, and structured training
- Own the inbound lead-qualification motion end to end, ensuring fast, consistent follow-up and thorough discovery so AEs receive high-quality, sales-ready meetings
- Partner with Growth/Demand Generation Marketing to improve lead quality, routing, and conversion, and to build scalable processes for the future
- Partner with Sales Managers and AEs to align on lead quality and quantity, tighten the handoff, and close the loop on down-funnel outcomes
- Report regularly on team and individual KPIs (call and activity volume, lead quality, conversion, meetings set, and pipeline generated) and use the data to coach and to drive decisions
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and build better processes, prioritizing improvements in speed-to-lead, productivity, and rep ramp time
- Run effective 1:1s and weekly team meetings, and maintain a high-energy, high-accountability, positive working environment
Requirements
- 2+ years in software / SaaS sales, with a consistent track record of hitting or exceeding quota as an individual contributor
- Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent of education and experience
- 1+ years of people management or team-lead experience, with a demonstrated ability to build a strong, motivating working environment
- Proven experience building and improving inbound (and ideally outbound) sales-development processes
- Comfort leading with data: you track the right metrics and use them to coach and to make decisions
- Strong command of the modern sales-development tech stack (e.g., CRM such as HubSpot or Salesforce, sales-engagement tools like Outreach, and data tools like ZoomInfo or Clay)
- Experience running productive 1:1s and team meetings, and managing expectations up and across the org
- Experience in physical security, hardware + SaaS, or another technical/considered B2B sale is a plus
- Experience building an MDR/SDR function or process from an early stage is a plus
- Familiarity with marketing automation and lead-scoring/routing is a plus
