About the Role

The Upper Division History Teacher will instruct Modern World History and United States History, fostering critical thinking and historical analysis. The role focuses on implementing equitable assessment methods and helping students connect their studies to the world, beginning September 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues by sharing resources and communicating about curriculum and students
  • Communicate student performance and growth with parents and guardians during scheduled conferences
  • Address student behavioral issues to maintain a safe and calm classroom environment
  • Maintain accurate student records, including grades and attendance
  • Support students' social and emotional growth
  • Ensure confidentiality of student information
  • Attend departmental, divisional, and school-wide meetings
  • Maintain compliance with school policies, state regulations, and educational standards
  • Perform related projects and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in history or a connected discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in history or a connected discipline
  • Passion for teaching with a positive demeanor
  • Ability to build strong relationships with faculty, administrators, students, and parents
  • Commitment to cultural competency and fostering an inclusive environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, stay organized, and prioritize tasks
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Proficiency in utilizing and learning new technologies, including Google Workspace
  • Ability to listen effectively and be receptive to feedback
  • Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance
