About the Role

Aramark is seeking a Residence Dining Manager for the University of Toronto Scarborough campus to manage daily food service operations in the Residence Dining Hall and catering, including supervision of unionized staff and directing all aspects of food service operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the food services, including delegating tasks, motivating, and coaching employees.
  • Address operational and staffing concerns; schedule and fill shifts as needed.
  • Oversee the flow of day-to-day operations on the floor.
  • Manage and direct food production planning, waste management, record keeping, follow up, and modification based on business volumes.
  • Ensure food safety standards and HACCP are enforced at all times.
  • Proactively manage food and labor cost controls.
  • Recruit, train, and orient staff.
  • Manage staff related issues such as vacation requests, progressive discipline, and other operational concerns.
  • Supervise cash handling procedures, balance cash float, safe, verify deposit, and conduct random cashier audits.
  • Complete all safety documentation and lead the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Resolve customer complaints, escalating to the Assistant General Manager as required.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years management experience in a food service environment.
  • Self-directed with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous culinary or production planning experience is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and team building skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate unionized team members.
  • Experience with recruiting, hiring, scheduling, and training staff.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards.
