About the Role

Lead a quality passenger transport service, utilizing individual talents and experience to run the operation effectively. This role is suitable for those seeking career advancement in passenger transport management or a career change.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily delivery of transport operations, ensuring a safe, punctual, and compliant service.
  • Ensure transport provision meets individual service user needs, including mobility, behavioural, and medical requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure consistent use of Cordic transport management software for route record maintenance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, families, carers, and schools, serving as the primary contact for inquiries and concerns.
  • Support the Transport Manager in route scheduling and optimizing journey efficiency.
  • Conduct on-the-job monitoring of transport operations and take timely action on concerns.
  • Complete, review, and update risk assessments for transport routes and service users.
  • Manage recruitment activities for Drivers and Passenger Assistants to maintain headcount.
  • Monitor overtime and agency usage to control costs and identify improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for service quality and efficiency.
  • Line manage Drivers and Passenger Assistants, providing guidance and support.
  • Manage overtime submissions, absences, and HR/Payroll system entries for direct reports.
  • Ensure direct reports complete assigned training courses on time.
  • Oversee adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures by self and direct reports.
  • Conduct return-to-work interviews following sickness absence.
  • Participate in investigation, disciplinary, and grievance processes as required.
  • Provide training to drivers on seat removal, configuration, and basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Respond to and oversee resolution of transport incidents, such as accidents and breakdowns.
  • Support the Transport Manager in maintaining compliance with operator licensing and legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate operational records for audits and inspections.
  • Conduct spot-checks of vehicle cleanliness and ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Arrange for suitable vehicle types and internal seating layouts based on service user requirements.

Requirements

  • Adherence to and promotion of Equality policy.
  • Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation.
  • Adherence to all company procedures and codes of conduct.

Skills

  • Transport experience (desirable)
  • People management experience (desirable)
  • Sound understanding of computer systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office products
