About the Role

Camp Loyaltown is a summer residential camp for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting staff and campers for various needs, including medical appointments and recreational trips, on an on-call basis.

Responsibilities

  • Practice and promote the agency's mission statements in every interaction.
  • Adhere to all regulations, agency policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Act as a mandated reporter to the Justice Center for suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Follow all agency incident policies and procedures.
  • Safely transport campers and staff to and from medical appointments in a timely manner.
  • Familiarize with AHRC/Citizens Vehicle policy and procedures, including trip records and mileage reports.
  • Drive staff for day off trips when approved and no other trips are scheduled.
  • Be on call for emergency situations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the camp vehicle.
  • Maintain the camp vehicle checklist and report maintenance issues.
  • Assist with loading and unloading camp equipment and supplies.
  • Uphold and ensure the implementation of all Camp Loyaltown policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Report any policy infractions.
  • Maintain a professional and pleasant attitude when interacting with campers and staff.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including seating capacity, seat belt usage, door closure, cell phone prohibition while driving, and headcounts.
  • Perform all other functions as requested by supervisors.
  • Complete any additional tasks assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Must remain a qualified driver in accordance with agency policy.
  • Must have a clean driving record if under 21 (clear of at-fault MVAs or motor vehicle infractions).
  • Must meet applicable New York State vision requirements for driving.
  • Ability to read road maps, use a GPS, and follow directions.
  • Physical ability to lift, load, and unload people, luggage, and supplies.
