About the Role

As a member of Zurich's Underwriting team, you will have the opportunity to fully apply and hone your leadership and strategic thinking skills. This role requires travel to offices where UA Associates sit. You will be responsible for managing a team of 7-10 direct reports and motivating them to deliver superior broker/customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals.
• Assess and evaluate underwriting processes to implement technical standards, controls, practices, and procedures.
• Maintain underwriting disciplines and identify opportunities for improvements.
• Follow up with producers to discuss new business, renewals, and develop appropriate action.
• Perform customer service and account management responsibilities, including resolving billing issues, making policy changes, and answering coverage questions.
• Participate in key account business relationships with Underwriters.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and ensure staff meet performance standards.
• Guide staff development by identifying skills and training needs, delegating tasks, and motivating staff.
• Build insurance operations and underwriting skills by participating in cross-training and learning additional processes.
• Build strong relationships across the business and take a leadership role in Underwriting team huddles and meetings.
• Assist in onboarding and training new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters.
• Act as a subject matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and operational performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years' experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.

• short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%
