About the Role

Cornerstone Family Healthcare is seeking a WIC Site Supervisor/Training Coordinator in Newburgh to supervise daily WIC site operations and lead training initiatives to enhance program services and staff competency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the assigned WIC site.
  • Ensure quality nutrition services are provided to all WIC participants.
  • Oversee food and formula prescriptions and coordinate with medical providers.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Local Agency Management Evaluation (ME).
  • Ensure the efficient flow of the assessment and education process.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of operations (patient, financial, and employee-related).
  • Be familiar with and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in required department, staff, and agency meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the WIC Program Director.
  • Participate in quality assurance (QA) processes and staff competency in various nutrition related areas (i.e. anthropometry, hematology, nutrition education, etc.).
  • Provides the roles and responsibilities of a QN as outlined by WIC Program standards in providing services to participants.
  • Develop and maintain individual training plans for all staff, ensuring they are role-specific and competency-based and mandated training.
  • Oversee orientation training plans for new staff hires.
  • Monitor training progress and maintain documentation systems for training completion.
  • Provide mentorship and training support to local agency staff.
  • Lead development and evaluation of training materials for staff education.
  • Ensure that all staff have a thorough individual training plan that is appropriate, timely, and updated throughout the year.
  • Ensure that the agency has a documented, role-specific orientation training plan specifically designed for new staff hires.
  • Review and approve all individual staff training plans.
  • Implement a system for documenting training progress and completion as well as management of the staff training plans.
  • Participate in local and state workgroups to improve nutrition and program services.
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to other local agency staff and other health professionals in nutrition service areas.
  • Stay current with up-to-date nutrition information and shares with LA staff by attending professional conferences, meetings, seminars, training, and WIC Association functions.
  • Provide leadership in the planning, conducting, and evaluation of Participant-Centered Nutrition Education services.
  • Adhere to and abide by the roles and responsibilities as outlined in the WIC documentation (Training Coordinator guidance).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Nutritional Sciences, community nutrition, clinical dietetics, foods and nutrition, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university, or one recognized by New York State Education Department.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential, or eligibility for registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program is required.
