About the Role

The Nurse Manager (NM) – Critical Care provides 24/7 clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, timely, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care. This role maintains a visible, hands-on leadership presence across shifts and serves as the operational authority during assigned coverage. The NM supports real-time decision-making in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment to promote patient flow, quality outcomes, and service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the execution, monitoring, and reliability of Critical Care processes that impact patient experience, quality outcomes, patient safety, staffing effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and departmental throughput.
  • Provides direct supervision and leadership to nursing and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Responsibilities include staff coaching, performance management, operational oversight, and ensuring adherence to clinical standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates closely with the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary leadership to translate organizational priorities into consistent front-line practice.
  • Supports American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) principles through staff engagement, shared governance, accountability, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Actively participates in nursing and hospital-wide initiatives, including professional development, shared governance activities, and performance improvement efforts that advance patient care and organizational excellence.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN), active and in good standing
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of acute care clinical experience.
  • Prior charge nurse, coordinator, or leadership experience preferred.
