About the Role
The Director of Administrative Services provides strategic and operational leadership for the Library’s administrative, financial, and business functions. Reporting to the Dean of the Library, this role ensures the administrative infrastructure supports the Library's mission, strategic priorities, and long-term sustainability while serving as the lead finance and procurement liaison.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in financial management, strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, policy development, human resources coordination, and facilities management.
- Serve as a key member of the Library’s senior leadership team.
- Act as the lead finance and procurement liaison for the Library.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with University administrative offices to ensure sound resource stewardship.
- Align people, processes, resources, and information in support of the Dean’s office and Library leadership.
- Advance operational excellence, promote accountability, and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate administrative, financial, operational, and organizational functions with librarians, staff, and student employees.
- Provide guidance on budgeting, procurement, human resources, facilities planning, and strategic initiatives.
- Supervise administrative services staff and related operational functions depending on organizational structure.
Requirements
- Master's degree in business administration, higher education administration, public administration, human resources, finance, library and information science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible administrative, financial, or operational leadership experience.
- Minimum of three years of experience supporting human resources, organizational operations, and administrative functions.
- Minimum of five years of supervisory experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational, operational, or change management initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex and competing responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and uphold ethical standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace.
- Experience working in higher education, libraries, cultural institutions, or complex mission-driven organizations.
- Experience serving as a liaison to central finance, procurement, human resources, or facilities units.
- Experience supporting executive-level leaders and participating in strategic planning.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects using project management principles.
