About the Role
The Air Export Specialist is responsible for facilitating the movement of products, equipment, and materials out of the country via air freight. This position ensures air freight compliance with organizational policy, procedure, and relevant laws, while providing customer service, performing bookings, offering rates, producing documents, and resolving issues.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate necessary documentation for air export activities.
- Coordinate cargo pick up and transfer, monitoring status.
- Communicate with export authorities, customers, and suppliers.
- Manage and update carrier and vendor rates, obtaining spot rates when necessary.
- Communicate with overseas agents and clients regarding pre-alerts, rate requests, and shipment status.
- Track shipments and update customers and agents on status.
- Create and maintain customer files.
- Provide customer invoicing and payable approval.
- Audit files for accuracy and completion.
- Interact with coworkers professionally and courteously.
- Complete US Customs AES filings.
- Manage JAS operational and customer KPIs.
- Assist other departments as needed.
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented.
- Able to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated.
- Able to work in a team and independently.
- Knowledge of all customs laws, practices, and procedures.
- Able to perform duties without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of self or others.
- Able to interact positively and effectively with coworkers, subordinates, and supervisors.
- Geographical knowledge is preferred.
- Cargowise experience is a plus.
- Bilingual is preferred.
- Experience in the freight forwarding industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of US Exports Compliance is preferred.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony without written approval from the Assistant Commissioner.
