About the Role

Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, the Supervisor of Outreach Lab Services supervises team members of Ambulatory Laboratory Services related to the daily operational needs of the department. This role ensures that operational decisions align with department, hospital, and regulatory guidelines. The Supervisor oversees Courier Services, specimen transport, scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and is responsible for HR and regulatory functions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all operations for Courier and Lead Courier responsibilities.
  • Schedule courier staff to ensure appropriate pickup/delivery of laboratory related specimens and materials.
  • Establish department goals to align with the mission/vision/strategy of the organization.
  • Ensure that procedures/manuals are reviewed regularly for accuracy, signed annually, and conform to good laboratory practice.
  • Perform huddles, cascades, and rounding with staff.
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings.
  • Maintain oversight of route listing.
  • Ride with drivers routinely to monitor staff performance.
  • Supervise, interview, hire, orient, train, coach, and develop staff.
  • Approve ETO time for staff.
  • Monitor continued performance and implement performance improvement plans when needed.
  • Maintain personnel files according to regulatory requirements and review files annually for completeness.
  • Prepare and give probationary and annual evaluations within organizational requirements.
  • Monitor dashboards to ensure compliance with all organizational mandatory education.
  • Foster teamwork and a collegial atmosphere.
  • Provide input on budget related items associated with staffing, operations, and capital.
  • Work with Sr. Manager to resolve discrepancies found in the monthly review of budgets.
  • Maintain needed stock and supplies in the department.
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards and inspections for the department.
  • Accurately document issues into the QA system (Quantros) and follow up as required.
  • Research and report on customer and patient complaints/concerns within guidelines or as requested.
  • Monitor monthly staff compliance with health reviews, mandatory education, orientation completion, and on-boarding documentation.
  • Oversee department orientation, staff educational needs, training, and staff competency assessment.
  • Oversee fleet management.
  • Assist in negotiating leases and ensure vehicles are kept to contractual requirements, including mileage management and routine maintenance for all lab fleet vehicles.
  • Follow up for all vehicle repair/accident/replacement necessary to assure fleet is presentable and functioning within standard and contractual agreement.

Requirements

  • Must have valid, clean NYS driver’s license as defined by Qualifications of Motor Vehicle Operations Policy.

Salary/Compensations

  • $57,500.00 - $61,500.00
