About the Role
The Wall Street Journal is seeking experienced Digital Production Editors for its newly formed Digital Production Team in New York. This role integrates copy-editing standards with strategic programming and audience development, requiring candidates to be fluent in both disciplines and capable of working fluidly across functions to curate and publish content across digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Edit copy for grammar, style, accuracy, and clarity under tight deadlines
- Make independent packaging and presentation decisions for breaking news and features
- Write SEO-optimized headlines, captions, and push alerts
- Execute daily programming across app and desktop homepages using audience data
- Apply sophisticated SEO principles and metadata consistently
- Craft display text for off-platform distribution channels
- Troubleshoot digital publishing issues and escalate when necessary
- Liaise with the London production hub for publishing continuity
- Collaborate with reporters and strategy teams on audience-first publishing
- Uphold Dow Jones editorial standards and ethics
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in digital news editing or platform curation
- Demonstrable competency in both copy editing and digital programming
- Proven track record of independent news judgment under pressure
- Expert-level proficiency with digital publishing tools and newsroom workflows
- Deep knowledge of SEO best practices and audience data platforms
- Experience curating digital homepages or app feeds
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work weekends and evenings
- Minimum of three days per week in the New York office
