About the Role
As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer II at Braze, you will be a senior individual contributor and technical leader, setting the technical direction for cloud security. You will define standards, lead cross-team initiatives, tackle ambiguous problems, and mentor engineers. Your deep dives will focus on secure architecture, threat modeling, detection engineering, incident response, and Kubernetes/platform security, shaping Braze's cloud security practices.
Responsibilities
- Define cloud security standards, guardrails, and reference architectures.
- Set objectives and roadmap for high-impact cloud security work.
- Lead cross-functional security initiatives end to end.
- Mentor and uplevel other security and platform engineers.
- Represent cloud security in architecture and design forums.
- Own threat modeling for new cloud technologies, services, and patterns.
- Partner to design secure-by-default cloud architectures and build scalable controls.
- Drive control-plane and IAM security strategy across AWS and GCP.
- Continually assess posture, surface systemic and emerging risk, and set priorities.
- Advance detection strategy and own detection coverage for cloud threats.
- Serve as a senior incident responder and cloud-forensics lead.
- Own and optimize security tooling such as CrowdStrike, Tenable, and native cloud services.
- Lead the vulnerability management workflow for cloud assets.
- Own the security of self-managed Kubernetes environments.
- Set standards for Infrastructure-as-Code and pipeline security.
- Establish best practices for patch management, base-image hardening, and version management.
- Lead the security of large-scale, distributed systems and self-managed data stores.
Requirements
- Several years owning cloud security in production.
- Hands-on experience with AWS as primary cloud, working GCP, and self-managed Kubernetes.
- Ability to read and write code (Python, TF).
