About the Role
The Data & Analytics department leads strategic initiatives that support the UHN Data Ecosystem through project delivery, change management, risk management, data governance, and operational planning. The team works closely with clinical, corporate, technical, and operational stakeholders to streamline demand intake, enable end-to-end delivery, and support reliable enterprise data services. This role provides direct people leadership and operational oversight for the teams responsible for the Data Intelligence Hub and Database Administration functions, supporting the maturity of UHN’s enterprise data architecture by strengthening Microsoft Fabric capabilities, Informatica-enabled data governance, database administration services, vendor and licensing oversight, platform support, incident response, and continuous improvement practices.
Responsibilities
- Establishes clear roles, responsibilities, accountabilities, and service expectations across the team.
- Prioritizes and assigns work based on organizational priorities, operational risk, team capacity, skill mix, and delivery timelines.
- Conducts regular one-on-one meetings, team meetings, workload reviews, and performance discussions.
- Supports recruitment, hiring, onboarding, orientation, retention, succession planning, and workforce planning.
- Completes performance reviews and supports staff development plans, training goals, and career growth.
- Identifies skill gaps and develops team capability in Microsoft Fabric, data engineering, SQL, database administration, DevOps, production support, data governance, and enterprise architecture practices.
- Provides coaching and guidance to support consistent documentation, peer review, source control, testing, release management, and operational support practices.
- Manages employee relations matters in collaboration with Human Resources and senior leadership, as required.
- Creates a collaborative team culture grounded in accountability, service excellence, technical quality, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensures the team can support both project delivery and operational sustainment, including incident response, platform monitoring, service requests, database support, and production issue resolution.
- Ensures staff understand how their work contributes to UHN’s broader enterprise data strategy and organizational priorities.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years people managing experience or equivalent required
- Experience with Microsoft fabric is required
- Experience leading end-to-end application, system interfacing/interoperability and IT infrastructure projects required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams
- Strong analytical, prioritization and organization skills, with attention to detail
- Flexibility to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Experience in formal procurement processes, contract negotiations, and vendor management preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare information systems, interfaces, HL7, ITIL, and/or enterprise architecture an asset
- Experience with cyber security and privacy regulations an asset
- Experience or knowledge using Epic an asset
- Experience with referral workflows/systems and provincial projects an asset

Salary/Compensations
- $109,162 to $159,162 annually
