About the Role

Partner with the Sales Team and customers to develop automation concepts and quotations that drive new business. Analyze customer requirements and existing production processes to design efficient and effective mechanical concepts and station-level solutions with estimated BOMs. Coordinate with suppliers and internal engineering, support accurate costing, and present concepts and budgets. Contribute to improving team tools, standards, and processes while staying current on new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Sales processes to create quotations and win business.
  • Conduct full review of applications and develop professionally packaged quotations with high attention to detail.
  • Analyze production process effectiveness and efficiency to develop enhancement strategies.
  • Review customer documents (RFQs, SOWs, specifications), lead site visits, and review product designs and past BOS history to optimize concepts.
  • Develop mechanical design concepts and estimated BOMs at cell and station levels.
  • Coordinate and communicate with customer technical counterparts to understand needs and build relationships.
  • Identify key project components for sourcing and develop RFQs for suppliers to determine technical capabilities and costs.
  • Lead collaboration with BOS engineering for concept development.
  • Support accurate costing by analyzing and estimating time and material requirements.
  • Support internal and external presentation of quotes, explaining concepts and validating budgets.
  • Support delivery of professional sales presentations and customer tours.
  • Attend project kickoffs and concept reviews to explain budget and scope.
  • Complete daily timesheets for cost of sales tracking.
  • Submit weekly expense reports by Friday 5 PM.
  • Support organization and management of quote folders and files.
  • Review and compare past projects and quotes to identify improvements.
  • Help develop and improve team standards, methods, and processes.
  • Help develop and maintain team tools, instruments, software, and supplies.
  • Identify quoting and process inefficiencies and collaborate on solutions.
  • Research new technologies to ensure optimal customer concepts.
  • Maintain general knowledge of automated products and applications.
  • Train and mentor BOS employees to share expertise and lessons learned.
  • Address and elevate problems using the ACE principle (Action, Compel, Elevate).

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, mechanical design, automation, systems integration, or custom machinery.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks with experience developing mechanical concepts, layouts, and estimated BOMs for automation projects.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, manufacturing processes, and custom machine design.
  • Experience reviewing customer specifications and developing technical concepts, quotations, and cost estimates for engineered automation solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites for application reviews, quote presentations, project kick-offs, and other business needs.
