About the Role

Lead a team supporting SMA, UMA, and Direct Indexing operations, focusing on developing people, building structure and accountability, and strengthening oversight across outsourced operations, sponsors, vendors, and internal business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of operations and oversight professionals, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage team priorities, workload, performance, and cross-training while helping build a scalable Operations & Oversight function.
  • Oversee outsourced operational activities, primarily through Vestmark and other external partners, ensuring effective vendor and sponsor oversight, operational controls, validation processes, escalation protocols, error analysis, workflow governance, and continuous process improvement.
  • Partner with sponsor firms, custodians, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, strengthen workflows and controls, drive accountability, and support business objectives.
  • Serve as a key escalation point for complex operational issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing sustainable process improvements.
  • Lead and support operational transformation initiatives, including workflow optimization, automation, platform enhancements, testing, and process redesign.
  • Represent Operations & Oversight in audits, due diligence reviews, RFPs, compliance inquiries, legal matters, and regulatory requests as needed.
  • Monitor operational metrics, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend improvements that enhance scalability, efficiency, and the client experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in financial services operations, asset management, wealth management, or related environments.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to develop teams, drive accountability, and manage performance.
  • Experience overseeing operational workflows, controls, escalations, and service delivery across internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong vendor, sponsor, custodian, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to improve processes, strengthen controls, and support operational transformation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Must be willing to work East Coast market hours.
  • Experience with SMA, UMA, managed accounts, direct indexing, or related investment products.
  • Vestmark platform experience.
  • Experience working with outsourced operations, vendors, custodians, or sponsor platforms.
  • Experience with workflow automation, system implementations, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Salesforce, SharePoint, or Confluence experience.
