About the Role
This one-year apprenticeship is designed to prepare candidates for a long-term career in field service, focusing on maintaining and repairing medical equipment in healthcare environments. The apprentice will observe and perform equipment service processes to ensure customer satisfaction and proper functionality of diagnostic imaging equipment.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs within a hospital radiology environment.
- Complete Preventative Maintenance on designated equipment.
- Perform safety and environmental inspections ensuring compliance with Health and Human Services and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.
- Complete necessary service and repair documentation following hospital protocol and GEHC policies & procedures.
- Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction.
- Learn and ensure proper care of tools and test equipment and ensure calibration.
- Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
- Mentor with and assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolution.
- Work as a member of the local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within his/her assigned area.
- Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within the defined deadlines.
- Identify and report all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
- Comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
- AS, BS degree, military education, certificate program, current student with less than 12 months from completion OR High School Diploma/GED with 6 months experience servicing electronic, IT or mechanical equipment.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 35 pounds unassisted and perform frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex and extend neck; and demonstrate good hand and finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities may include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must successfully complete GE HealthCare background checks, post-offer drug testing, and ongoing customer access requirements, including required immunizations (obtaining and/or providing proof), additional drug tests/background checks (including a federal government background check if assigned to support a contract with the federal government), and site-specific compliance protocols.

- $48,000 - $72,000 (Austin = $52,800 - $79,200)
