About the Role

Global News Toronto is seeking two full-time Show Producers to report to the News Director of Multi-Market Content. This role involves varied shifts, including weekends and evenings, and is a Group 4 position within the current collective agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Produce, line-up, and write news broadcasts for various markets, collaborating with teams across Canada.
  • Write, edit, and produce packaged and live segments.
  • Participate in editorial discussions and meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer and Anchor to define editorial direction and newscast content.
  • Work with Graphics teams to create visual elements that enhance storytelling and broadcast presentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work varied hours, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Requirements

  • A University degree or equivalent post-secondary education in a broadcast-related field.
  • Ability to respond quickly and knowledgeably to breaking news.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in television broadcasting.
  • Strong news writing skills.
  • Exemplary leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent news judgment.
  • An amazing, can-do attitude.
  • Life experience in, and knowledge of, various Canadian regions is considered an asset.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle the demands and pressure of multiple broadcast deadlines.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, social media tools and technologies (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), and related applications.
  • Familiarity with news video editing.
  • Knowledge of Grass Valley editing software is an asset.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and other TV production skills.
  • Demonstrate a high comfort level providing clear constructive feedback.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
