About the Role

Under the delegation and supervision of an RN, provides clinical support with basic nursing care and patient monitoring for the general welfare and safety of all patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with basic patient care, including hygiene, feeding, and intake/output measurement.
  • Measures and records vital signs, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and weight.
  • Performs selected procedures such as specimen collection and basic wound care.
  • Maintains clean and orderly patient care areas and prepares rooms for new admissions.
  • Orients patients to the unit and responds promptly to call lights.
  • Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition and treatment issues.
  • Assists with respiratory therapy reinforcement and oxygen equipment.
  • Keeps RN informed of work status and availability.
  • Assists with patient mobility, range of motion exercises, and escorts.
  • Performs patient observer role when assigned.
  • Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, and development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth department operation.
  • Adapts to unit-specific routines and patient care needs on Med-Surg and Rehab units.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year medical/surgical or equivalent experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of one year medical/surgical or equivalent experience preferred.

Education Level

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or equivalent
