About the Role

Under the delegation and supervision of an RN, provides clinical support with basic nursing care and patient monitoring for the general welfare and safety of all patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with basic patient care, including hygiene, feeding, and intake/output measurement.
  • Measures and records vital signs, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and weight.
  • Performs selected procedures such as specimen collection and urine testing.
  • Maintains clean and orderly patient care areas and sets up equipment for new admissions.
  • Orients patients to the unit, responds to call lights, and provides assistance.
  • Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition and treatment issues.
  • Assists with incentive spirometry and oxygen equipment management.
  • Keeps RN informed of work status and availability.
  • Assists with patient mobility, range of motion exercises, and escorts.
  • Performs patient observer role when assigned.
  • Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, and development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Removes and applies telemetry units.
  • Demonstrates proper use and care of equipment.
  • Demonstrates understanding of child safety and family-centered care.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one-year Medical/Surgical or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Nurse Aide Certification or equivalent required.
  • BLS certification required.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of one-year Medical/Surgical or equivalent experience preferred.

Education Level

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or equivalent
