About the Role
The Luxury team at Lyft builds rich and creative features for Black, Black SUV, and other upmarket ride-sharing modes. We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for app experiences, UIs, and infrastructure, ensuring uncompromising quality. This role involves setting technical direction, making strategic tradeoffs, and owning complex systems across backend, frontend, iOS, and Android to enhance the luxury experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers and engineering managers.
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of team members.
- Build collaborative, inclusive, and respectful teams.
- Set the technical vision and strategy for an evolving product area.
- Co-own the product strategy with the product partner and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of engineering solutions.
- Create plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges.
- Maintain a balance between building sustainable, high-impact projects and shipping quickly.
- Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processes.
- Work closely with the Lyft recruiting team to hire high-potential candidates from diverse backgrounds.
- Own team deliverables and ensure the shipping of scalable, highly-available products.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams of 20+ members, including experience managing managers.
- Ability to contribute to planning and design discussions.
- Experience building trust to lead a team of engineers and guiding their career development.
- Belief in building scalable teams and products for the future.
- Enjoyment of collaborative environments and commitment to driving projects to completion creatively.
- Ability to motivate and instill a strong sense of ownership in the team.
- Ability to thrive in a heavily cross-functional environment and drive projects to completion.
- Ability to work well with product partners and help set product vision for ambiguous projects.

- $208,000 - $280,000
