About the Role

The Mapping team at Lyft is building a digital representation of the physical world, collecting and serving accurate mapping data, algorithms, models, and services that power Lyft’s transportation offerings. This role involves managing a growing team of engineers focused on user-facing Mapping experiences.

Responsibilities

• Manage a rapidly growing team of engineers developing user-facing Mapping experiences
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of your team members
• Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other
• Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize individual strengths and contributions
• Create plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges
• Maintain a balance between building sustainable, high-impact projects and shipping quickly
• Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processes
• Work closely with the Lyft recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds
• Work with engineers and/or product managers to maintain a prioritized backlog and create short term and long term goals
• Own team deliverables and ensure high-quality product delivery
• Help the team build relationships across functions (Product, Design, User Research, Science, etc.)

Requirements

• Bachelors, Masters in Computer Science or at least 7 years of industry experience building and shipping software
• Experience with leading software engineering teams through tough problems, growing people and shipping software
• Experience leading a team that shipped a mobile product with millions of users
• Previous experience as a software engineer
• Ability to decompose complex business problems and lead a team in solving them in a fast-paced but also rigorous fashion
• Excellent communication skills

Salary/Compensations

• $208,000 - $260,000
