About the Role
Any Baby Can is seeking a Development Intern to support its mission of championing child development and supporting families in need. This internship offers hands-on experience in donor stewardship, research, grant writing, and event management, preparing future philanthropic leaders for a career in nonprofit fundraising and administration.
Responsibilities
- Assist with fundraising campaigns and event support, including soliciting, receiving, and picking up donated auction items, in-kind gifts, and event materials.
- Support donor stewardship and database management by drafting emails, thank you letters, and tracking in-kind donations.
- Conduct prospect research, including corporate donor research and engagement strategies.
- Assist with grant writing research and drafting community grants.
- Provide support for volunteer coordination and projects.
- Offer office support, including organizing marketing collateral and event materials.
- Perform additional duties based on department needs and intern interests.
Requirements
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in courses during the internship period.
- Must be majoring in Communication, Sociology, Social Work, or a relevant field.
- Must have an interest in development and nonprofit fundraising.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must have strong writing and editing skills.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to a team-oriented philosophy and the ability to work independently.
- Must have knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office products.
- Must adhere to principles of ethical fundraising.
- Must be based in the Austin area with reliable transportation to travel to Any Baby Can of Austin’s Main Office and Event Venue(s).
- Must have a valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance if driving a personal vehicle.
- Must have professor approval for school credit if applicable.
- Must have a minimum of 16 hours per week availability.
- Must have consistent availability during scheduled working hours, with periodic availability outside normal working hours for events and activities.
