About the Role

Dairy One is seeking an experienced and collaborative Forage Laboratory Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Forage Laboratory, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and timely analytical services. This role focuses on efficient sample processing, quality control, customer service, and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and management of forage laboratory technicians.
• Oversee workload distribution and ensure adherence to SOPs, laboratory policies, and safety protocols.
• Manage personnel functions including scheduling, hiring, training, coaching, and staff development.
• Maintain oversight of sample flow and turnaround time.
• Manage instrument service contracts and assist with troubleshooting operational issues.
• Communicate procedural or instrument impacts across teams.
• Address customer questions regarding sample analysis methods and provide scientifically sound solutions for complex requests.
• Maintain proficiency in LIMS for sample calculations, quality control, and data reporting.
• Participate in operational and budgetary discussions.
• Engage with customers and participate in outreach activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of two years of experience in an analytical or agricultural laboratory.
• Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience managing laboratory workflow and turnaround times.
