About the Role
As an Engineer 2, Cloud Support Engineer, you will be a hands-on, mid-level cloud operations engineer within LPL's Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) Support team. You will support LPL's 24x7 production support for the AWS landing zone, working alongside senior engineers, AVPs, and the VP, Support. Your daily tasks include triaging tickets, fulfilling account/IAM/access requests, executing and improving runbooks, supporting change windows, and responding to production cloud incidents. You will collaborate with the Monitoring pod and escalate issues to other Foundations pods, Platforms, Containers, and Delivery teams as needed. LPL operates an AWS-first CCOE with a multi-account landing zone, utilizing Terraform for delivery. You will spend most of your time working on tickets, runbooks, Terraform, and incident response across US offices and the India Global Capability Center, continuously automating repeatable requests.
Responsibilities
- Triage inbound tickets from application teams across Jira and ServiceNow against clear SLAs, owning Tier 1/Tier 2 scope tickets and escalating others cleanly.
- Fulfill account/IAM/access requests for the landing zone and automate repeatable requests through the Account Factory for Terraform (AFT) and the private Terraform module library.
- Execute and improve runbooks for known incident classes, collaborating with the Monitoring pod to enhance monitoring and runbook improvements.
- Support change-management execution, including change-window participation, ServiceNow change-record discipline, and verification of changes.
- Embed agentic AI capabilities into the team's engineering practice and the platform's self-service experience.
- Utilize agentic AI capabilities in daily support work, including ticket triage, self-service requests, runbook generation, and on-call copilots.
- Operate as a hands-on mid-level cloud engineer, focusing on Terraform code, AWS console/CLI, design documents, code review, and incident response.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations as a primary responder for production incidents, with opportunities to grow into a senior responder role.
- Consume the private Terraform module library and reference patterns to deploy application-aligned infrastructure, contributing pull requests to shared modules and AFT.
- Partner with peer engineers, AVPs, and VPs across the CCOE teams and Foundations pods to achieve pod outcomes.
- Apply the AWS Well-Architected Framework and drive continuous improvement against operational, security, reliability, performance, cost, and sustainability outcomes.
- Participate fully in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and partner with the enterprise EPMO/RTE on delivery commitments.
- Pursue and maintain Engineer 2 certifications per the CCOE certification matrix, progressing toward Senior Engineer.
