About the Role
Patrols buildings and grounds, responds to emergencies, and performs duties to promote a safe and secure environment for all campus and community members.
Responsibilities
- Patrol campus premises on foot or by vehicle to ensure safety and security
- Identify and respond to potential security threats, suspicious activities, and safety hazards
- Monitor access to campus buildings and facilities
- Direct traffic during peak hours, special events, or emergencies
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide first aid
- Coordinate with emergency responders
- Monitor access points and enforce campus policies
- Conduct security checks on buildings and facilities
- Collect evidence, interview witnesses, and file detailed reports
- Attend safety workshops and training sessions
- Maintain communication with Campus Safety, staff, and local law enforcement
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a related field or an Associate’s degree in a related field
- Valid NYS driver's license
- Current New York State Security Guard registration certification
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
- Demonstrated conscientiousness and ability to follow procedures
- Ability to exercise exceptional judgment and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to foster a culturally diverse and inclusive community
