About the Role

Patrols buildings and grounds, responds to emergencies, and performs duties to promote a safe and secure environment for all campus and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol campus premises on foot or by vehicle to ensure safety and security
  • Identify and respond to potential security threats, suspicious activities, and safety hazards
  • Monitor access to campus buildings and facilities
  • Direct traffic during peak hours, special events, or emergencies
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide first aid
  • Coordinate with emergency responders
  • Monitor access points and enforce campus policies
  • Conduct security checks on buildings and facilities
  • Collect evidence, interview witnesses, and file detailed reports
  • Attend safety workshops and training sessions
  • Maintain communication with Campus Safety, staff, and local law enforcement

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience in a related field or an Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Valid NYS driver's license
  • Current New York State Security Guard registration certification
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
  • Demonstrated conscientiousness and ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to exercise exceptional judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to foster a culturally diverse and inclusive community
