About the Role

This role involves working with children and teens, monitoring program participants, and facilitating activities in both the Ticonderoga Teen Center and the Silver Bay Summer Camp. The position requires a commitment to customer service and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for youth.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and work with program participants in the Ticonderoga Teen Center and Silver Bay Summer Camp.
  • Lead and participate in physical, social, and educational activities.
  • Assist with Leaders Club, including meetings, community service projects, and chaperoning teens to regional rallies.
  • Participate in training for emergency procedures.
  • Maintain punctuality, preparedness, and a friendly demeanor.
  • Monitor participant sign-in/sign-out and track participant locations.
  • Help implement YMCA character development goals at Silver Camp.
  • Assist in implementing programs that foster camper growth.
  • Enforce staff-to-camper ratios and assist with swimming activities.
  • Ensure site cleanliness for camp attendees.
  • Communicate clearly with staff, parents, volunteers, and children.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment repair needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Work weekends, evenings, night shifts, and/or holidays as needed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in implementing youth and teen programs is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a diverse community.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to enforce rules professionally and positively.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or willingness to obtain them.
  • Complete Child Abuse Prevention and other Y training within 14 days of hire.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to adjust to effectively relate to each child.
  • Ability to reach, kneel, and lift 15 pounds.
