About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking 12 Regular Part-Time Donor Centre Associates for their Danforth and Dufferin donor centres. The Collections team is responsible for safely collecting donor blood and blood components to provide life-saving products. In this role, you will perform phlebotomy, interact with donors, team members, and volunteers, and ensure safe and quality service.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy in the collection process in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Work face-to-face with donors, team members, and volunteers providing safe and quality service.
• Conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility.
• Build and promote a positive donor experience.
• Ensure safe processing and handling of blood products.
• Respect donor privacy.
• Perform venipuncture according to established standards.
• Monitor donors for safety and comfort.
• Provide post-donation care and instruction.
• Ensure accuracy of product information in the computer system.
• Complete product labelling process.
• Prepare products.
• Drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and supporting best practices.
• Enhance processes and elevate the donor experience.

Requirements

• A high school diploma is required.
• Completion of accredited training program in phlebotomy or one-year related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive experience working with the public, particularly in a high customer-focused environment.
• Knowledge of and experience working with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
• Must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs.
• Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
• Ability to lift supplies and equipment in excess of 10 kg (22 lbs.).

Salary/Compensations
