About the Role
Canadian Blood Services is seeking 12 Regular Part-Time Donor Centre Associates for their Danforth and Dufferin donor centres. The Collections team is responsible for safely collecting donor blood and blood components to provide life-saving products. In this role, you will perform phlebotomy, interact with donors, team members, and volunteers, and ensure safe and quality service.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy in the collection process in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Work face-to-face with donors, team members, and volunteers providing safe and quality service.
- Conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility.
- Build and promote a positive donor experience.
- Ensure safe processing and handling of blood products.
- Respect donor privacy.
- Perform venipuncture according to established standards.
- Monitor donors for safety and comfort.
- Provide post-donation care and instruction.
- Ensure accuracy of product information in the computer system.
- Complete product labelling process.
- Prepare products.
- Drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and supporting best practices.
- Enhance processes and elevate the donor experience.
Requirements
- A high school diploma is required.
- Completion of accredited training program in phlebotomy or one-year related experience.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience working with the public, particularly in a high customer-focused environment.
- Knowledge of and experience working with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
- Must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs.
- Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- Ability to lift supplies and equipment in excess of 10 kg (22 lbs.).
