About the Role
We are building a new system to make delivering change across our organization easier, smarter, and more enjoyable. We need a Senior Business Analyst to help shape this initiative from its inception. This role is central to how we shape and deliver change, requiring ownership of analysis across multiple projects and workstreams, with assurance responsibilities for a wider portfolio. The ideal candidate will be self-managing, able to prioritize effectively, lead others, and proactively drive activities without close direction.
Responsibilities
- Shape the optimal path forward by identifying and comparing effective processes and delivery methods, measuring outcomes, and using evidence to guide team decisions.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of existing products, services, and processes to uncover optimization opportunities and lead requirement definition using techniques like gap analysis.
- Translate insights into tangible results by using quantitative and qualitative data to define outcomes and inform solution design.
- Investigate complex challenges, evaluate options for new and existing products/services, and present clear recommendations to drive decision-making.
- Take ownership of analysis activities across multiple projects, initiatives, or workstreams, ensuring clear priorities and on-track delivery.
- Proactively manage competing demands, making informed decisions on sequencing, resource allocation, and escalation.
- Lead other Business Analysts by setting clear tasks, expected outputs, quality standards, and target dates.
- Track delivery progress for BA activities, actively managing actions, risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions.
- Provide constructive challenge to stakeholders, delivery teams, and partners regarding unclear requirements, outcomes, scope, or solution options.
- Identify and escalate blockers early with clear recommendations, options, and proposed next steps.
- Assure the quality of BA deliverables, including problem statements, requirements, user stories, process maps, impact assessments, and solution design artifacts.
- Support the development of BA capabilities through coaching colleagues, sharing best practices, and raising standards across the BA team.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Business Analyst within a Life & Pensions organization or with Life & Pensions products.
- Proven experience in self-managing complex analysis activities across multiple projects, priorities, or workstreams, balancing delivery pace, quality, and stakeholder expectations.
- Proactive and forward-looking, capable of identifying risks, issues, dependencies, gaps, and blockers before they impact delivery.
- Confident in escalating concerns early with clear evidence, options, and recommendations.
- Strong task and delivery management discipline, maintaining control over parallel activities while keeping stakeholders informed and engaged.
- Ability to operate confidently across Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid environments.
- Understanding of the importance of working within established change governance standards.
- Capability to lead other Business Analysts effectively, setting direction, agreeing tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring outputs meet required standards.
- Ability to operate with ambiguity, structure complex problems, and bring clarity to stakeholders, delivery teams, and third-party partners.
- Strong collaborator and communicator, confident engaging sponsors and stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in using a range of tools and techniques to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to interpret data from multiple sources, including user research and performance metrics.
- Capacity to turn insights into clear user flows, wireframes, and process maps describing current and future states.
- Innovative mindset with creativity in problem-solving and spotting opportunities to improve change delivery.
- Genuine curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and digging deeper to understand underlying issues.
