About the Role

Partner with senior stakeholders to embed privacy-by-design, strengthen customer trust, and ensure the responsible use of personal data across Investment Banking. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Bank’s Data Privacy Framework, including policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Support Data Protection Officers in monitoring and reporting adherence to data privacy obligations.
  • Provide specialist support to Business Oversight Compliance teams in managing data privacy risks.
  • Coordinate the response to personal data breaches, including containment, remediation, and regulatory notification.
  • Manage Barclays' relationship with Data Protection Authorities (DPAs), acting as a point of contact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (1LOD Data Privacy SMEs, Legal, Compliance, Risk) for a comprehensive risk management approach.
  • Represent Barclays in Data Privacy industry groups and associations to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide education and awareness support to employees on Data Privacy obligations and secure data management.
  • Maintain Group-wide mandatory training courses on Data Privacy.
  • Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, using professional knowledge and skills to deliver impactful work.
  • Set objectives, coach employees, appraise performance, and determine reward outcomes.
  • Lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments.
  • Identify new directions for assignments and projects, utilizing cross-functional methodologies.
  • Consult on complex issues and provide advice to People Leaders for escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls.
  • Perform work that requires understanding of inter-departmental coordination.
  • Collaborate with other work areas for business-aligned support.
  • Engage in complex data analysis to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience supporting and delivering Data Privacy governance, privacy risk management, and regulatory compliance programs within a financial services or highly regulated environment.
  • Build partnerships with business, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and Operations stakeholders.
  • Provide practical advice and influence the implementation of privacy requirements across business and technology programs.
  • Knowledge of global data protection and privacy regulations (such as GDPR, UK GDPR, PECR, GLBA, APPI and other regional privacy requirements).
  • Knowledge of practical application of regulations within financial services environments, especially related to Investment Banking and Markets business activities.
  • Demonstrate experience developing and enhancing privacy frameworks, controls, policies, standards, and governance processes.
  • Experience supporting data privacy incident management, regulatory engagement, breach response, and remediation activities.
  • Experience promoting privacy awareness, training, and privacy-by-design guidelines.
  • Experience helping business teams understand their obligations and embed good privacy practices.
