About the Role
The Asset Protection Agent (APA) is a front-line leader responsible for protecting the customer experience, reducing shrink, and promoting a strong safety culture across assigned stores. This role delivers service-led theft deterrence, supports store teams through daily coaching and training, and executes core Asset Protection programs including investigations, audits, and RFID controls. The APA plays a critical role in daily risk management and operational compliance at store level.
Responsibilities
- Lead proactive theft deterrence through consistent presence, confident customer engagement, and coaching store teams on service-based prevention across assigned locations.
- Champion a positive, safe, and inclusive store environment by setting clear expectations and role-modelling best practices for both safety and shrink.
- Partner with Store Management to align on Asset Protection priorities, guide decision-making and influence proactive risk-management plans.
- Build trusted relationships with mall security, law enforcement, and external partners to strengthen shared intelligence and coordinated response.
- Deliver high-quality AP training for store teams covering service-led deterrence, safety communication, crisis response, and operational best practice.
- Build capability by identifying skill gaps, tailoring coaching sessions, and supporting associates to strengthen AP knowledge and confidence.
- Reinforce learning through ongoing follow-up, feedback, and recognition of strong AP behaviors on the sales floor.
- Conduct CCTV and floor-based surveillance in line with company policy to safely deter and apprehend offenders.
- Support store leadership during high-risk or ORC-related incidents, ensuring accurate communication, documentation, and consistent escalation.
- Prepare detailed investigation reports and maintain accurate case records, representing the company professionally in court when required.
- Initiate investigations related to internal loss, determine sources, and communicate effectively to line manager to support conclusion of outcome.
- Lead operational assessments focused on safety, shrink indicators, and compliance with AP and Store Operations standards.
- Execute and oversee weekly RFID cycle counts, delegating tasks where appropriate to build accountability and engagement across the store team.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations partners to identify and address root causes of operational loss, driving continuous improvement in inventory accuracy and process compliance.
Requirements
- Experience in the Security/Loss Prevention field or relevant experience in a retail setting is an advantage.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends appropriate to retail business needs.
- Must have a reliable means of transportation.
- Must fulfill physical requirements including standing and walking.
