About the Role

Merchants Insurance Group seeks a Collections Support Specialist to join their Premium Accounting team in Buffalo, NY. This role provides crucial support to premium accounting and collections by assisting with the premium deposit process, batching and keying deposits, and supporting collection activities. The position requires strong organizational, customer service, and computer skills for handling financial information and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

Assist with the collection process by creating and maintaining client credit history files and managing accounts to ensure timely payments.
Document collection activities, create reports, and maintain accurate records using computer systems and databases.
Batch and key deposits.
Prepare and process collection correspondence.
Assist with collection reporting and account referrals.
Key policy transactions.
Print and electronically file daily bank statements and reports.
Process and key miscellaneous billing transactions.
Handle telephone calls, email correspondence, and communication with insureds, agents, and collection agencies.
Provide back-up for other Premium Accounting positions, as necessary.

Requirements

Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent work-related experience.
Prior administrative, accounting support, or collections experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access).
Strong organizational, record-keeping, and attention-to-detail skills.
Excellent communication, customer service and negotiation skills.
Professional approach to handling sensitive financial information.
