About the Role
Ardsley Veterinary Associates is seeking a dedicated veterinary technician to join our progressive, fast-paced 6-doctor general animal practice. We provide comprehensive care including surgery, urgent care, and advanced diagnostics, offering opportunities for professional growth through interactive training and development.
Responsibilities
- Perform animal restraint and triage incoming patients
- Collect and analyze laboratory samples
- Conduct diagnostic imaging
- Manage and provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases
- Administer medications
- Communicate treatment plans effectively with clients
- Assist with surgical preparation and anesthetic management
Requirements
- Licensed veterinary technician
- High work ethic and positive attitude
- Punctuality and reliability
- Availability for some Saturday shifts
- Ability to interpret medical records and record client history
- Knowledge of preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
- Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
- Proficiency in sample collection including blood, urine, fecal, and skin
- Ability to set up and process laboratory samples and tests
- Proficiency in positioning and capturing radiographs
- Proficiency in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
- Ability to accept constructive feedback professionally
- Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- Must be comfortable with potential exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases
