About the Role
Waymo is seeking an expert to manage financial operations, focusing on assets, inventory, and supply chain accounting. This role involves partnering with the business to enhance processes, acting as a subject matter expert for system implementations, and identifying risks and efficiencies. The position offers the opportunity to drive financial strategy and support the company's growth.
Responsibilities
- Perform and drive month-end close tasks related to Assets, Inventory, and Supply Chain accounting.
- Manage Ledger Close, Balance Sheet and P&L reporting, flux analysis, and preparation/review of journal entries and corresponding reconciliations.
- Partner with the business to design and implement new operational processes and accounting flows.
- Identify, scope, and resolve process gaps across business areas, driving consistency across stakeholders.
- Act as the subject matter expert in Inventory and Supply Chain Accounting to support major system implementations, enhancements, and bug resolutions.
- Proactively find process efficiencies through elimination, automation, and strategic outsourcing.
- Proactively identify risks, generate risk mitigation plans, and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Prepare and present complex financial and technical information clearly to various audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 4+ years of experience with a Big 4 accounting firm.
- 3+ years of experience in industry.
Skills
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, particularly in inventory (ASC 330) and fixed assets (ASC 360).
- Proven track record as a problem solver with experience running large, cross-functional projects.
- Excellent leadership, project management, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Superior analytical skills, attention to detail, combined with impeccable business judgment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
- Direct experience managing accounting for global supply chains, including cross-border freight/logistics, customs/duties, multi-currency inventory valuation, and intercompany transfer pricing.
