About the Role
You will join the DataX Ops team to contribute to the operation and improvement of the current platform, while participating in the construction of its V2. The current platform allows the DataX team and various data teams to provide data in the form of interactive tables and dashboards, with fine-grained, decentralized rights management and autonomous data transformation execution. V2 will offer the same services and will be more scalable, deployable across the group, more functional, with better availability and security guarantees, and aligned with current transformations in Free's operations. This is an excellent learning opportunity, as you will be supported by experienced engineers and gradually gain autonomy in an area combining traditional infrastructure and modern tools.
Responsibilities
- Participate in daily operations with current tools (pyinfra, Python, systemd, nftables, Scaleway instances and bare metal)
- Contribute to continuous improvement (monitoring, alerting, etc.)
- Participate in security reviews
- Support operations for other data teams, with the support of the team
- Participate in the implementation of the new technical stack (Kubernetes, etc.)
- Implement infrastructure components defined with senior engineers
- Contribute to the transition of the current platform to V2, and then to its operation
- Receive guidance from senior engineers in the team (pairing, code and architecture reviews)
- Discover GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and DevSecOps practices in real-world conditions
- Participate in discussions with the central Ops team
Requirements
- Knowledge of Linux: system administration and networking concepts
- Knowledge of Python, particularly for scripting (pyinfra, Ansible, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of cloud provisioning, ideally with Terraform
- Curiosity about the functioning of a cloud provider (compute, storage, network, IAM, etc.)
- Written English required (documentation, technical exchanges); oral is a big plus
- Pragmatism and intellectual honesty: know how to say 'I know' as well as 'I don't know'
- Ability to assess when to ask for help, without getting stuck
- Ability to receive and give feedback
- Desire to learn and evolve in an area combining traditional infrastructures and modern tools
- Ease in collaborating with diverse profiles (data engineers, developers, product managers)
