About the Role

The Energy Manager is responsible for the strategic development and execution of energy projects, continuous commissioning, and energy performance in a portfolio of buildings. This role is key in reducing client utility costs across a large portfolio of buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies buildings best suited for energy retrofit projects.
  • Identifies opportunities for specific energy saving measures in buildings.
  • Develops energy audit and re-commissioning scopes of work.
  • Recommends energy retrofit projects based on study results, analysis, audits, and re-commissioning.
  • Analyzes building automation and control systems data to identify low-cost/no-cost opportunities.
  • Directs consultants and contractors through all phases of energy retrofit projects.
  • Supports project management in delivering projects impacting energy consumption.
  • Develops measurement and verification plans for all projects, capturing energy and non-energy benefits.
  • Develops and maintains a low-cost/no-cost energy program, engaging facility managers and tenants.
  • Conducts energy assessments when consumption varies significantly from expected performance.
  • Participates in the development of the building management plan.
  • Works closely with building technicians to ensure continuous commissioning and energy performance improvement.
  • Identifies, implements, and tracks energy saving challenges and opportunities.
  • Provides a venue for technicians to share experiences.
  • Educates technicians in energy saving practices and technologies.
  • Reviews building performance reports.
  • Develops new practices to improve energy performance.
  • Implements and maintains sub-metering and measurement and verification systems.
  • Monitors energy retrofit project performance and intervenes when systems under-perform.
  • Quantifies, tracks, and reports on all energy savings initiatives.
  • Supports the delivery of internal and external energy reports.
  • Supports Client Facing Teams with their energy reporting needs.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing energy and/or delivering energy retrofit projects in facilities.
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying and deploying energy conservation measures in commercial buildings.
  • More than 5 years of job related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with project managers, property managers, building technicians, consultants, and contractors.
  • Experience working with building controls systems and/or writing HVAC sequences of operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading consulting teams is an asset.
  • Project management experience is an asset.

Salary/Compensations

  • $84,493 - $105,616 per annum
